“I couldn’t agree more.” My father had finished getting dressed and was dragging Shane toward our group.

Though his wounds had started to heal, Shane continued to clutch his arm. He also hadn’t uttered a word, not since Nick threatened to rip him apart.

“Come on,” my father said as he hoisted Shane onto the vehicle’s bed, then jumped in next to him. “The police in Hanford are expecting you.”

“I guess I’m not riding alone anymore.” Nick tossed Mandy, who was as muddy as he was, over his shoulder and headed for the back of Preston’s vehicle.

“I’ll wait for you guys in the truck,” Berkley said, then followed after Nick and Mandy.

I pulled Jac into my arms and nuzzled her neck. “I did hear what you said about being partners and taking care of each other.”

“You did?” She tipped her head back and giggled when I scooped her off the ground and headed for the truck.

“Yes, and I have a few ideas of how you can take care of me once we get home.” I loved my mate and couldn’t imagine my life without her. It wasn’t going to be easy, but I would work on letting her help me, instead of always being the one who took care of everyone else.
